Wildfire in Washington State causing concerns on this side of the border
A wildfire burning just south of the Canada–U.S. border is starting to concern Canadian officials.
The Town of Osoyoos is now monitoring the Palmer Mountain wildfire, which is now approximately 15 kilometres from the border.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources lists the fire at just over 5,000 ha, with 398 personnel assigned to it.
The fire began Tuesday, Aug. 18 around 3 p.m. and has resulted in evacuation notices. Structures in the area are at risk.
The forecast for the area today calls for instability with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
