Record breaking warm temperatures

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – If it felt like spring on Friday it might have been the record breaking spring-like high temperatures.

Four communities in the Thompson-Okanagan broke high temperature records on Feb. 6.

The high temperature recorded at the Kelowna Airport was 11.7 C, snapping the old record of 7.6 C in 1978, according to Environment Canada.

Salmon Arm also has a new high temperature record for Friday. The mercury crept past the 10 C recorded in 1963 to 11.1 C.

It was almost 3 degrees warmer in Clinton with a new record high temperature of 7 C on Friday, compared to the 4.4 in the weather record for the same day in 1993.

In the South Okanagan, Osoyoos is the new record holder. The town had reached a high temperature of 12.5. Compare that to the old record of 11.7 from 1963.

The warm Pacific air from the so-called Pineapple Express is expected to continue to flow into the our region for the next week.
