Police arrest two prolific Kamloops thieves, find $1K worth of stolen property

Two prolific Kamloops thieves are now in police custody after video footage led to their arrest.

Kamloops RCMP were able to identify, locate and arrest two men in relation to several break-ins where thousands of dollars worth of property were stolen, according to an RCMP media release. 

Members of the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit began looking into the matter Sept. 1, and released a video of a possible suspect to assist in identification.

As a result, 21-year-old Kamloops resident Shane Mcleod has been arrested and is facing 14 new charges.

The charges include two counts of break and enter, possession of break in instruments, mischief, and possession of property obtained by crime, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence as well as multiple counts of breach of court orders.

Mcleod is in custody and expected to appear in court today, Sept. 8.

A second man arrested, also from Kamloops, is also facing charges but he wasn't identified.

A search warrant executed by the Crime Reduction Unit in Brocklehurst led to the seizure of thousands of dollars in stolen property including bikes, tools, alpine ski equipment and car stereos, Sept. 2.

Some of the items located were stolen that same morning. 

Kamloops RCMP urges the public to record the serial numbers of their valuables, such as tools, bikes and construction equipment to aid police in their investigation.
