Police interrupt home invasion robbery at Summerland motel
Police were looking for a wanted man at a Summerland motel earlier this month when they happened upon a home invasion robbery.
While searching a motel on Highway 97 for a man wanted on a warrant at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 2, RCMP officers noticed two men inside a motel suite and two other occupants who appeared to be in distress, according to a release.
When they entered the suite, officers determined the two men were in the middle of robbing the two occupants.
Police arrested 44-year-old Jeffrey Pelly at the scene, but the second man escaped in a nearby vehicle.
A warrant has been issued for the other accused, identified as 28-year-old Matthew Bonner.
The two occupants of the suite suffered minor injuries.
The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges against both men of robbery, disguise with intent, using an imitation firearm while committing a robbery and break and enter with intent.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Matthew Bonner is urged to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
