Neighbour rescues family’s home

KELOWNA – Firefighters say their job was made a lot easier by a man who took a fire extinguisher to a fire at 470 Fleming Road last night.

The fire started around 6 p.m. and calls to the fire department described open flame and plenty of smoke. Platoon Captain Dennis Miller says by the time firefighters arrived, the fire was put out with a chemical extinguisher. A teenage boy was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

A fire investigator will attempt to determine the cause today.
