Shoplifting turned into an armed robbery in Kamloops: RCMP

Kamloops RCMP are searching for a man after a shoplifting incident turned into an armed robbery earlier this month.

A man allegedly pulled out a machete when a store employee tried to stop him from stealing in the 1800 block of Tranquille Road around 8:30 p.m. on April 10, according to an RCMP press release issued today, April 23.

RCMP don’t identify the business and don’t say what the alleged thief was trying to steal.

Several officers responded to the area but couldn’t find the suspect who fled on a bicycle.

Kamloops RCMP are now sharing his picture hoping that someone will recognize him and reach out to police.

RCMP describe the suspect as Caucasian male with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, pants and white sneakers with stripes.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect has been asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-10516.
