NDP leader Jagmeet Singh coming to Penticton to support local candidate
NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is making a campaign stop in Penticton on Sunday to support Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay candidate Linda Sankey.
Singh is going to be at the Dragonboat Pub on Skaha Lake for a rally from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., April 27, according to an NDP press release.
“We are offering voters a chance to vote for something, for action on climate change, for expanding services including pharmacare, mental health care supports, and senior’s care to make life more affordable for those struggling. The NDP has a record of keeping the government accountable to its promises. We need NDP MPs in Ottawa to defend and deliver services and investments for everyday Canadians,” Sankey said in the release.
After the rally at the Dragonboat Pub, Singh will be going to Oliver to join the Vaisakhi celebrations with the parade starting at the Gurdwara at 10:45 a.m. and ending at the Community Hall.
Singh made similar last minute stops in Penticton in the previous two elections in 2019 and 2021.
“Momentum is high and we’ve had many requests for the leader. We’re excited to have Jagmeet return with his positive message of hope and delivering results for Canadians,” Sankey’s campaign wrote in the release.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has already held a rally in Penticton which means Liberal leader and Prime Minister Mark Carney will be the only federal leader not to hold a rally in the city this election.
Election day is Monday, April 28.
