Conservative Helena Konanz wins in Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay

Former Penticton city councillor and Conservative candidate Helena Konanz has won in the new riding of Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay.

At the time iNFOnews.ca called it in her favour, she was leading with 42.6% of the vote with 85% of the polls reporting. Her nearest competitor, Liberal candidate Gloria Morgan, had 37% of the vote.

Konanz beat Morgan, the NDP’s Linda Sankey, the Green Party’s Phillip Mansfield and PPC Barry Dewar.

Konanz also ran for the party in the past two federal elections in the region that has been an NDP stronghold since 2015 under now retired MP Richard Cannings.
