No foul play in death of man whose burned body was found in Kamloops: RCMP

Foul play has been ruled out in the death of a Kamloops man whose burned body was found by firefighters who extinguished a blaze outside a business earlier this month.

BC Ambulance and Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to a fire outside the former Spirit Halloween building at the corner of 8 Street and Tranquille Road just before 2 a.m. on April 7.

Fire crews put out the blaze and found the body.

“Since then, police have identified the victim as part of their sudden death investigation,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a media release today, April 29.

“At this time, no evidence has been discovered to suggest criminality was involved in the man’s untimely death.”

The BC Coroners Service is still conducting its own investigation.

Anyone who has information that they have not shared, but may be related, has been asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
