Body found in Paul Lake area near Kamloops sparks homicide investigation
RCMP officers looking into a stolen vehicle case in the Paul Lake area near Kamloops last week found a body and now there’s a homicide investigation as well as a property crime probe.
Officers arrested three men outside of Kamloops for possession of stolen property and failing to comply with court orders Friday, April 25, according to an RCMP media release.
During the investigation police found a man’s body in the Paul Lake area. Officers with the Southeast District Major Crime Unit were called and took over the investigation.
A home linked with the three men who were arrested was secured by police until RCMP could get permission to search the property.
Investigators have now determined that Dylan Thomas Godfrey, 43, had been murdered.
“Investigators believe that Dylan Thomas Godfrey’s death was an isolated event and that no threat to the public exists,” Staff Sgt. Jason Smart with the major crime said in the release.
Police are asking the public to come forward with any video from Paul Lake Road, the Halston Bridge Connector or the North Shore of Kamloops between 6 a.m. on April 23 to 7 a.m. on April 25.
Anyone who had communication or dealings with Godfrey from April 14 onwards has also been asked to contact police.
Tips and video footage can be called into the Southeast District Major Crime Unit information line at 1-877-987-8477.
