RCMP looking for ‘person of interest’ after Kamloops garbage can fires
While not calling the situation suspicious or using the word arson, Kamloops RCMP are searching for someone related to a series of garbage can fires this past weekend.
Police received several reports today, May 5, about multiple garbage can fires that happened over the weekend in the 300 block of Seymour Street and 500 block of Victoria Street.
RCMP said officers searched for a suspect while firefighters dealt with the flames.
“A person of interest was allegedly observed in the area, described as a Caucasian man who had long hair with red highlights, was wearing dark clothing, and holding a pair of ski boots,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
“Officers would like to speak with the person and are hoping they will come forward or be identified by a member of the public.”
Kamloops Fire Rescue didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
RCMP said no extensive damage was reported as the result of the fires.
Anyone with information about the garbage can fires has been asked to callt Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-13395.
