West Kelowna woman wins $150,000 on scratch ticket

West Kelowna’s Brenda Domerchie got a bigger payday than most babysitters do.

Domerchie was given a $20 lottery scratcher for watching her grandkids and ended up winning the top prize of $150,000, according to a press release from BC Lottery Corporation issued today, May 6.

She checked if her ticket from Costco was the winner on her phone.

“I was in the kitchen,” Domerchie said in the release. “My first thought was I need to let my daughter know, but I couldn’t. I texted, then I Facetimed and then I tried calling my son-in-law.”

She said her plan is to retire early.

“This is nice. It makes retirement easier to plan for,” she said.
