Teen skateboarder dies in hospital after Calgary collision involving SUV

CALGARY — Police say an Alberta teen has died after he was hit by an SUV in Calgary last week while riding his skateboard.

Officers were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Hunterview Drive and Hunterbrook Road.

They say a 79-year-old woman had been travelling south in her 2011 Buick Enclave toward the intersection as the 17-year-old boy approached.

He was hit by the Buick and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, while the woman was not hurt.

The teenager had been taken to hospital and police say he has since died.

Police aren’t considering speed, drugs or alcohol to be factors in the collision.
