It’s going feel like fall this week in the Okanagan

Okanagan residents can expect a fall-like change to the weather this week as smoky conditions clear, temperatures drop back to seasonal levels and the chance of showers returns to the valley.

Environment Canada says to expect mainly sunny skies this morning, Sept. 21, to give way to increasing clouds with a high of 22 C in Vernon and Kelowna and 23 C in Penticton. Overnight lows of 12 C are expected in Vernon and Kelowna, 14 C in Penticton expected.

Clearing skies are forecast for Tuesday with a high of 24 C  in Vernon and Kelowna, 25 C in Penticton, and a low of 12 C in all three cities.

There's a 40 per cent chance of showers Wednesday in the Okanagan, with showers expected overnight.

Wednesday’s high is expected at 20 C with a low to 12 C.

Thursday there is a 60 per cent chance of showers with a high of 16 C and a low of 12 C.

There’s a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight Thursday.

More showers are forecast for Friday, with a 60 per cent chance of precipitation through Friday night.

The weekend looks like it will start on a damp note, with a 60 per cent chance of showers into Saturday, along with a high of 17 C

Sunday, look for clouds and a high of 19 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 18 C and lows of 6 C.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
