Here’s a quick glance at unemployment rates for April, by province

OTTAWA — Canada’s national unemployment rate was 6.9 per cent in April. Here are the jobless rates last month by province (numbers from the previous month in brackets):

_ Newfoundland and Labrador 9.6 per cent (10.0)

_ Prince Edward Island 6.6 per cent (7.5)

_ Nova Scotia 7.2 per cent (6.1)

_ New Brunswick 6.9 per cent (7.0)

_ Quebec 6.0 per cent (5.7)

_ Ontario 7.8 per cent (7.5)

_ Manitoba 5.3 per cent (6.0)

_ Saskatchewan 4.3 per cent (4.9)

_ Alberta 7.1 per cent (7.1)

_ British Columbia 6.2 per cent (6.1)
