Man’s wheelchair and camera stolen while fishing in Okanagan

RCMP are on the lookout for a $7,000 wheelchair stolen near Peachland.

West Kelowna RCMP received a report Sept. 11 just before 5 p.m., that a man had been fishing on Headwater main lake, near Peachland. He returned to his vehicle to discover that someone had broken into it and stolen numerous personal items, including his Canon 7D camera and his two-piece foldable carbon fibre wheelchair.

The victim relies on his wheelchair as he is mobility challenged, RCMP said in a press release. Further, this specialty wheelchair is valued at $7,000.

“We are appealing to whoever stole these items to do the right thing and return them,” Staff Sergeant Duncan Dixon, commander of the West Kelowna RCMP, said in a press release.
