Summerland bobsledder all work, no play?
SUMMERLAND – Bobsledder Justin Kripps, 27, of Summerland hasn't seen much of Sochi since arriving there for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
The Hawaiian-born athlete hit the ground running in Russia and hasn't had much downtime between orientation, security checks, press conferences and seeing the track at the Sanki Sliding Centre in Rosa Khutor, a skiing resort an hour's drive east of Sochi.
Kripps moved up to the pilot seat of the bobsled crew following the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and, after two seasons on the World Cup circuit, qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics. He and his teammates are scheduled to begin competing on Feb. 16.
In between posting his adventures on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, preparation and finding his room, he was able to fire back answers to hard-hitting questions, such as what is your favourite beer – "Red Racer from Central City Brewery".
