RCMP make arrest in late night shooting in Vernon

An assault led to a shooting in Vernon Wednesday night, and police have a suspect in custody.

Vernon RCMP were called to a shooting on Okanagan Hills Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. on May 14, according to a press release from police.

The shooting happened after an earlier assault between a man and a woman in a vehicle that was parked at a pullout on the road. The suspect came back to the scene and allegedly fired several shots.

Police did not say whether anyone was injured.

The unnamed 33-year-old suspect was caught without incident by police near Falkland. He will be in custody until his court date.
