Shaw shuttering Kelowna call centre

KELOWNA – Shaw Communications announced today it will be closing down contact centres in three Canadian cities starting this summer, including Kelowna.

The customer care operations in Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna will be relocated to Victoria, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Montreal, where the contact centres will expand. A total of about 1,600 employees in the three cities will be offered the option to relocate to one of the expanding locations, take on new roles in their current location or take a severance package.

Part of the Kelowna operation will shut down by June, along with the Edmonton contact centre, and the Calgary operation will be closed by January 2016. Shaw will also be consolidating six retails stores into neighbouring locations.

The changes do not impact the other 4,100 other employees working for Shaw in Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna.
