Conservative Caputo wins in Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola

Conservative Frank Caputo will hang on to his job after winning in the new electoral district of Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola.

The Conservative incumbent MP won his second election in a region that has remained comfortably safe for his party for more than two decades. At the time iNFOnews.ca called it for Caputo, he was leading with 52.4% of the vote with 71% of polls reporting. His nearest competitor, Liberal Iain Currie, had 39.1% of the vote. 

First elected in 2021, he now holds the seat again in his first re-election.

Caputo, a former Crown prosecutor, has served as the Conservative Party’s veteran’s affairs critic and more recently deputy justice critic.

Currie, another former Crown prosecutor, ran against Caputo for the Liberal Party. He has previously carried the Green Party banner, but switched parties for the 2025 election.

The NDP’s Miguel Godau of Castlegar, PPC Chris Enns of Clearwater and the Green Party’s Jenna Lindley also competed in the Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola.

It’s a new riding that covers only part of Kamloops for first time ever, which will see Caputo represent constituents in several different communities than he had in the previous Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo. The riding is largely made up of Kamloops voters, but it covers a massive swath of land to include communities like Blue River, Lillooet, Lytton and Merritt.
