RCMP block American citizen from planned Kamloops child abduction

RCMP in Kamloops say they stopped an American citizen’s plan to abduct a 13-year-old in its tracks earlier this year.

The operation helped prosecute the person in the U.S., as police provided crucial evidence to the FBI, according to Kamloops RCMP.

The plan was to lure and abduct the 13-year-old in Kamloops and investigators interfered sometime within the first quarter of 2025.

Precisely when that happened or who the suspected child abductor was isn’t yet known.

Asked about the investigation, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said officers took steps to protect the victim and stayed in contact with American investigators.

The FBI investigation is ongoing and the accused’s name hasn’t been released, nor the circumstances of their crimes, she said.
