Warm start to October could set high temperature records today and tomorrow
It may be early October, but the weather in southern British Columbia is more reminiscent of summer than impending winter.
Environment Canada is predicting highs of 24 to 26 Celsius for Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton today, Oct. 2, and tomorrow, which could challenge high temperature records.
“We’ve had some fog and low cloud in the north end of the Okanagan this morning. We almost need a fairly strong wind to mix that up, so maybe tomorrow we’ll break a record. Today, Princeton, and Merritt could challenge their records but I don’t expect it to be in the valley bottoms today,” Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says.
“There could be some records broken, watch for it. Especially tomorrow, if there’s a wind it might stir things up.”
