Arson trial fires up in Vernon Supreme Court

By Charlotte Helston

A Coldstream man faces four counts of arson, including charges for a fire set at Okanagan College. The trial is expected to run all week in Vernon Supreme Court.

Edward Keith Wade of Coldstream allegedly lit a fire in a garbage can at Okanagan College in 2011. He is also charged with a string of arsons in the Coldstream area. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Crown counsel Cristina Cabulea says she will call around ten witnesses to the stand. She notes that damage from the fires was not particularly extensive, and that no residences were involved.

Wade is represented by defense lawyer Claire Abbott.
