Canada’s under-23 men’s wheelchair basketball team falls to Brazil at worlds
SÃO PAULO — Canada dropped a 63-53 decision to Brazil at the IWBF men’s wheelchair basketball under-23 world championship on Thursday.
Canada led 44-43 after three periods but the host side pulled away in the fourth. Ibrahim Odza had 19 points and six assists for Canada.
“I thought our guys came out and played with the emotion that I thought they would,” Canada coach Darrell Nordell said in a statement. “We had a couple of good runs.
“We struggled a little bit on our defence at first and boxing out. It’s just the little things that we need to get better at.”
Canada will play Turkey on Saturday. The 12-team competition continues through June 20 at Centro de Treinamento Paralímpico Brasileiro.
