iN NUMBERS: Graduating from college or university in Kamloops, Okanagan

Graduating from college or university is one of the proudest moments for a parent, and for graduates it might be a little bit anti-climactic and the moment they realize they actually have to look for a job in the field they studied.

Check out some stats for graduates in Kamloops and the Okanagan.

  • 1,000: Students graduated from Okanagan College earlier this month.
  • 6: Okanagan College graduation ceremonies were spread around the region including Kelowna, Vernon, Salmon Arm and Penticton.
  • 2,600: Students graduated from UBC Okanagan, the largest graduating class in the campus’ 20 year history.
  • 137: Programs at UBCO.
  • 26,690: Degrees have been handed out by UBCO since 2006.
  • 1.6 million: Square centimetres of paper were needed to make the diplomas for UBCO’s graduates this year.
  • 1,630: Student gowns and robes for this year’s Thompson Rivers University graduates.
  • 73: Countries were represented among TRU graduates.
  • 4: People got honorary doctorates from TRU this year.
  • 6: People were the first to graduate from the Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner program at TRU.
