Case of COVID-19 reported at Vernon high school

The first COVID-19 case in an Okanagan school has been reported.

Interior Health reported Vernon's Clarence Fulton Secondary School had someone with a case of COVID-19 in the school from  Oct. 5 to 8. Contact tracing is currently underway to see if anyone else was exposed.

As of yesterday, Oct 9, there have now been 559 residents living in the Interior Health region who have tested positive with COVID-19.

That’s an increase of two today, Oct. 9, over yesterday, according to an Interior Health media release.

There are 18 active cases where people are in isolation with one person in the hospital.

There are seven cases linked to the recent outbreak at Calvary Chapel in Kelowna.

“The provincial health officer’s recent COVID-19 modelling shows B.C. is starting to bend the curve back down; however, now is a fragile time as we move into the fall,” Interior Health president and CEO Susan Brown said in the release.

“As we approach another long weekend, our celebrations must look different this year and the best way to show thanks is through protecting the ones we love from COVID-19.
