Kelowna’s Winter Market cancelled until 2021 due to COVID-19

A popular winter market has been cancelled until 2021.

The Downtown Kelowna Winter Street Market, which typically occurs at Stuart Park and features live entertainment, skating, food and a visit with Santa, will not be happening this year.

"The priority of the DKA is the health and safety of our staff and all who visit Downtown Kelowna. In accordance with Dr. Bonnie Henry’s Order dated Oct. 9, the Downtown Kelowna Association is cancelling the 2020 edition of the Winter Street Market," a post to the association's Facebook page reads.

A provincial health order remains in place as the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing gatherings larger than 50 people.

The Downtown Kelowna Light Up has also been cancelled.

A few weeks ago, organizers posted that the market would be under review, amid cancellations of holiday markets across the region.

Kelowna's largest craft fair, Craft Culture, will also not be taking place this year.
