After a stray cat in West Vancouver was found trapped inside a car's engine after a long drive, the B.C. SPCA is urging motorists to check their vehicles for stowaways this winter.
During the colder months in B.C., stray cats — and even some wild animals like raccoons — will try to find warm places to take shelter, according to a B.C. SPCA media release.
This could include vehicles, especially those that are recently parked and still warm.

Fortunately, Fievel the stray cat discovered trapped in the car engine in West Vancouver was uninjured, and has since been adopted.
However, not all animals will be so lucky.
The SPCA recommends that drivers Think and Thump this winter by knocking on the hood of their car to ensure no animals are hiding underneath before they drive away.
