Near perfect conditions for viewing July’s full Buck Moon
The full Buck moon will reach maximum illumination this week and skies over Kamloops and the Okanagan will be clear for viewing it.
Named for the antlers of male deer growing this time of year, the Buck Moon reaches peak illumination at 4:37 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 and will appear full and bright the nights before and after.
This moon is also known by many other names including Feather Moulting Moon, Salmon Moon and Berry Moon, according to the Old Farmers Almanac.
The overnight forecast for Kamloops predicts cloudy periods on Wednesday night, clear skies on Thursday and clouds on Friday, while overnight skies will be clear all week throughout the Okanagan.
For best viewing conditions, find a comfortable place away from light pollution where there is a clear view of the sky, and look to the southeast.
