
iN NUMBERS: RibFests and meat sweats in Kamloops, Okanagan
Trigger warning for vegetarians, this one’s all about ribs. There’s something magical about walking around, eating your body weight in ribs and then falling into a food coma to sweat it out.
Here are some factoids for the rib enjoyers in Kamloops and the Okanagan:
- 21,786: People got their fill at Kelowna RibFest this past weekend.
- 108,930: Ribs served if everyone ate roughly 5 ribs. So that’s probably a conservative underestimate.
- 5: Champion ribbers were in Kelowna City Park ready to give some folks heartburn.
- 12: Local musicians took the stage at Kelowna RibFest.
- 13.8: Pounds of ribs in 12 minutes is the world record held by legendary contest eater Joey Chestnut, according to Eater.com. Get after it folks.
- 2: RibFests in the Okanagan this summer. You already missed Kelowna’s but Penticton’s RibFest is on July 25-27.
