Snow expected to fall on Coquihalla

Highway 5 is expected to get a light covering of new snow today.

According to Mountain Forecast, Highway 5 is expected to receive roughly seven centimetres of snow Saturday, Oct. 17, and reach a low of -4 C.

A mix of sun and clouds are predicted for the next few days, followed by a snowfall on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the forecast.

Drive BC is reporting slushy and slippery sections between Exit 202 and Exit 336 on Highway 5 this morning and also warns of compact snow on the Okanagan Connector, Highway 97C.

Winter tires or chains are required on most routes in British Columbia from Oct. 1 to April 30. For select highways not located through mountain passes and/or high snowfall areas, tire and chain requirements end March 31. These routes are marked with regulatory signs posted on highways throughout the province.
