Kelowna RCMP search for serial golf course bandit

Police are searching for a suspect believed to be responsible for several break-ins to golf courses and pro shops around the Kelowna area.

In the past two months there have been three break-ins with similar patterns and a suspect was seen arriving and leaving on an e-bike, according to a press release from police.

Someone broke into the pro shop at the Shannon Lake Golf Course in West Kelowna around 12:55 a.m. on June 5. The suspect stole several golf clubs, a golf bag and more.

Kelowna RCMP were called to a break-in at the Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club at 1:23 a.m. on June 16. Again, the suspect stole clubs, a bag and other items.

The most recent break-in was at the Okanagan Golf Club around midnight on July 11. The suspect again stole several clubs and putters along with some other items.

“The offender appears to know exactly where they are going as they enter the pro shop, immediately heading to the area of the high-end golf clubs, taking the ones they want, and then quickly departing,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay said in the release.  “All of the items this suspect takes are top of the line clubs including a significant number of Scotty Cameron putters.”

Anyone with information about the burglaries has been asked to call police at 250-762-3300 or leave an anonymous tip with the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
