80 cent spin nets big Wheel of Fortune win for Salmon Arm woman

A Salmon Arm woman is three quarters of a million dollars richer following an 80 cent spin on a “Wheel of Fortune” lottery play.

It was supposed to be the last spin of the day on PlayNow’s Mega Jackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air, but that last spin was worth $762,395.26 to Baillie Bridle of Salmon Arm.

“I was playing for a bit and said I’d finish playing after the one final spin. The universe all seemed to come together with that spin. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around it – it’s so shocking, so surreal,” Bridle says.

It was Bridle’s first time playing Mega Jackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air. She normally plays Blackjack on Live Casino, but decided to try her luck on slots for fun.

"I played the 80-cent spin, and an envelope flew down saying I had won a second-chance draw for the Mega Jackpots prize, and it said I won,” said Bridle. “When I found out just how much I won, I was just in disbelief. I originally wanted to make it a surprise for my husband, but I just had to tell him right away,” she says.

The $762,395.26 will allow Bridle’s family to live more comfortably, she says.

“We might buy one luxury item – a boat, since we’re right by the Shuswap!” Bridle says.

Mega Jackpots is a progressive jackpot network like across multiple games and Canadian jurisdictions. Every bet placed on Mega Jackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air gives the player an opportunity to win the progressive jackpot.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
