
RCMP respond to young person’s death at downtown Kamloops park
A young person has died in a Kamloops park after life-saving measures from emergency crews.
Kamloops RCMP offices were called to Peterson Creek park around 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 and closed the park for part of the morning while they responded, according to an RCMP news release.
They responded to the area under the Peterson Creek Bridge, but they were unable to save the person’s life.
“We offer our condolences to the family and friends for their loss,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release.
Police said criminality is not suspected in the person’s death, who was not named in the news release.
Kamloops RCMP had asked the public to stay clear of the bridge and the area underneath, but the park was open around 11 a.m. with with no signs of a continued police presence.
