Calgary Flames sign Martin Pospisil to three-year contract extension

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames have signed forward Martin Pospisil to a three-year contract extension worth US$7.5 million, the club announced Wednesday.

Pospisil, from Zvolen, Slovakia, had a career-best 25 points — four goals and 21 assists — and 84 penalty minutes in 81 games last season for Calgary.

The six-foot-two, 195-pound forward has delivered a team-leading 539 hits since making his NHL debut on Nov. 4, 2023 — the third-highest total in the league over that span.

The 25-year-old, left-handed shot was named to Slovakia’s preliminary roster for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano and Cortina, Italy, along with five other skaters.

Pospisil had three goals and four assists for Slovakia at the 2024 men’s world championship, and three assists in three games for his country in an Olympic qualifying tournament.

He was Calgary’s fourth-round pick (105th) in the 2018 NHL draft. Pospisil has a career 12 goals and 37 assists in 144 NHL games.
