Man dead, four injured in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ont., crash: police

Provincial police say a 35-year-old man is dead and four people are injured after a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to the crash at around 9:20 p.m. on Highway 48 in the hamlet of Ballantrae, located around 15 kilometres east of Aurora, Ont.

Police say the crash happened between two SUVs, though the cause of the crash is not currently known.

A 35-year-old man was pronounced dead on scene and four others, including three children, were taken to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Police say they had to shut down a portion of Highway 48 between St. Johns Sideroad and Ballantrae Common for an investigation which has since reopened.

Police continue to investigate the crash and ask anyone with information or dash camera footage to share it with them.
