Rangers INF Marcus Semien sidelined by sore right wrist, X-rays negative
TORONTO (AP) — Texas Rangers infielder Marcus Semien missed Saturday’s 14-2 loss at Toronto because of a sore right wrist.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said after the game that X-rays did not reveal a fracture.
“That’s great news for us,” Bochy said. “We’ll check on him tomorrow, see where he’s at and if he’s available.”
The slumping Rangers are 61-63 after dropping eight of nine.
Semien was hit by a 91 mph fastball from Toronto’s Chris Bassitt in the second inning of Friday’s 6-5 loss. He remained in the game and hit a two-run homer off Louis Varland in the eighth.
Semien had played in 122 of Texas’ first 123 games. The three-time All-Star last sat April 13 at Seattle.
Ezequiel Duran started at second base for the Rangers on Saturday. He went 1 for 4 with a double.
