The driver of an SUV was arrested Wednesday night after driving erratically in downtown Kelowna.
Officers were called to a report of a hit-and-run crash in the downtown area around 8 p.m., Aug. 20, according to an RCMP media release. While on the way to the scene, police got calls about a vehicle being driven erratically on Bernard Avenue, Abbott Street, Clement Avenue, St. Paul Street and Ellis Street.
When officers arrived they saw a newer black SUV maneuvering dangerously in several intersections before it ended up in the city’s Meet Me on Bernard pedestrian zone that is closed to traffic.
The SUV hit a parked car and the driver was arrested.
“Based on the initial investigation, there is no indication to suggest the driver intended to cause deliberate harm to the public,” the release reads.
No one was hurt and police continue to investigate.
