Penticton arson investigation has RCMP looking for witnesses

An intentionally set bush fire in Penticton over a month ago has RCMP investigators looking for tips from the public.

Emergency crews were called to the fire in the area of Brandon Avenue and McGaw Street in Penticton just after midnight, July 6, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Aug. 22.

Police say the fire was quickly put out but it had the potential to cause significant damage to nearby homes.

The investigation has determined it was arson.

RCMP have released a photo of the suspect on a motor scooter from surveillance video.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the early morning hours of July 6 to contact the Penticton RCMP,” Penticton RCMP media relations officer Const. Kelly Brett said in the release.

“Even small details, especially about the motor scooter, could help move this investigation forward.”
