Kamloops RCMP arrest wanted man, find shotgun in vehicle search

Police arrested a wanted Kamloops man in a vehicle stop this weekend.

Kamloops RCMP had asked for the public's assistance in locating Kevin James Beattie last week.

Police located Beattie in a vehicle stop on 8 Street in Kamloops Oct. 30, according to a release. He was arrested on his outstanding warrants without incident.

Beattie was wanted on charges of possession of a weapon while prohibited, possession of ammunition while prohibited, theft under $5,000 and driving while suspended.

In a search of Beattie's vehicle, RCMP found a sawed off shotgun, a scope, several rounds of shotgun ammunition and a digital scale with drug residue on it.

The investigation is still underway, and Beattie is expected to appear in court to face further charges.
