Hall of Famer Caroline Ouellette joins PWHL’s Victoire as full-time assistant coach

MONTREAL — Hockey Hall of Famer Caroline Ouellette will be a full-time assistant coach for the Montreal Victoire in the upcoming Professional Women’s Hockey League season, the team announced Thursday.

Ouellette had already featured on head coach Kori Cheverie’s coaching staff on a part-time basis for the past two seasons while serving as associate head coach of the Concordia University Stingers.

A four-time Olympic gold medallist with the Canadian women’s national team, the 46-year-old from Montreal was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and IIHF Hall of Fame in 2023.

In 2008, Ouellette won an NCAA national championship as an assistant coach with the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

At Concordia, she guided the Stingers women’s team to U Sports titles in 2022 and 2024.

Ouellette has also coached Canada’s women’s team as an assistant, winning two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze between 2017 and 2025.

“I’m extremely happy to continue my work with La Victoire,” Ouellette said in a statement. “Danièle (Sauvageau), Kori, and the players have set a standard of excellence, and I am happy to be able to contribute on a daily basis. We have a passionate and hardworking team, and I’m eager to begin our journey this season.”

“I know Caro well—not only have we worked closely together on the national team and with La Victoire since the beginning of this journey, but we also competed against each other back in our CWHL days,” Cheverie said. “It’s been incredible to grow our coaching chemistry over the past three years, and we’re very excited to now count on her expertise and knowledge on a full-time basis.”
