Air quality warning across B.C. Interior including Kamloops, Okanagan
An air quality warning due to wildfire smoke has been issued for most of B.C. including Kamloops and the Okanagan.
Wildfire smoke is expected to move into Thompson, Shuswap, Central and North Okanagan regions overnight, but the air quality warning could last up to 48 hours across the province, according to the Environment Ministry.
The South Okanagan isn’t part of the air quality warning as of 11 a.m. Sept 3.
If you look out your window you might already be seeing some hazy skies, but the province wants to advise people that conditions can change quickly and vary hour-by-hour.
The smoke is expected to clear in the Peace region over the coming days.
Changing wildfire and smoke conditions can be checked online, as well as any emergency announcements.
An update to the air quality status is expected to come out tomorrow, Sept. 4.
Limiting time outdoors is advised for anyone who’s pregnant, over 65 years old, chronically ill, infants and young kids, but staying indoors can reduce health risks for everyone.
