Graffiti ‘artists’ caught on camera spray painting new Kelowna pedestrian overpass
The new pedestrian overpass in Kelowna got a new paint job when graffiti artists left their marks, now police are looking for them.
Kelowna RCMP are looking into the vandalism that happened around midnight on Aug. 10, according to a press release from police.
There were two people caught on security camera spray painting several different spots on the new overpass at Harvey Avenue and Richter Street. Around 10 minutes into the tagging spree one of the suspects climbed over the railing and tagged the interior portion of the support structure.
Both suspects took pictures of their graffiti before leaving on foot.
“The surveillance footage from the area has led investigators to seek public assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be involved,” Cpl. Allison Konsmo said in the release.
The first suspect is a Caucasian male last seen in a grey hoodie with white, red and black writing, black baggy pants, white and black runners, and a black and white printed headband, carrying a black and beige camera-like bag.
The second suspect is a Caucasian male with longer blonder hair. He was last seen in black pants, black long-sleeved shirt with white writing on the back, a white baseball hat and runners.
Anyone with information about the incident or suspects has been asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2025-47106. Tips can also be given to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online here.
