Missing man possibly connected to body found in burned car near Kamloops

Police have determined that a man’s disappearance is suspicious and it could be connected to the body found in a burned out car near Kamloops.

The BC RCMP major crime unit is investigating the disappearance of 25-year-old Dillen Bain, according to a press release from police.

Bain was last heard from on Aug. 22, 2025. He’s described as a Caucasian male with brown hair, brown eyes, 5’10″ tall and 185 lb.

Police and BC Coroners Service are looking into any possible connection between Bain and the body recovered from a vehicle fire on Aug. 23.

Mounties said the Tk’emlups Rural RCMP responded to a reported vehicle fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road, where they found a burned black 2019 Volkswagen Golf that they believe was stolen.

RCMP said officers found human remains inside the car, and the region’s major crime unit is now investigating the suspicious death.

The identity of the body found in the car hasn’t been confirmed yet.

“Major crime unit investigators are looking for public assistance in determining the circumstances that led to Dillen’s disappearance,” Staff Sgt. Jason Smart said in the release. “If you have any information related to Dillen Bain’s disappearance, please contact the RCMP.”

Anyone with information has been asked to call the Major Crime information line at 1-877-987-8477.
