$500,000 lottery win for Vernon man

A Vernon man won the $500,000 Extra prize on a Lotto 6/49 draw last month.

Randall Dunn couldn’t believe his luck and thought the self-scanner was broken when it said he’d won, according to a BC Lottery Corporation media release issued today, Sept. 9.

“I checked three times and then took it up to the counter because I wasn’t sure,” he said in the release. He bought the ticket for the Aug. 20 6/49 draw at the Chevron gas station on 32 Street in Vernon.

His husband was in disbelief when he shared the news.

“He yelled ‘yahoo!’ and then we did a little happy dance,” he said.

Dunn said the money will help to make his retirement easier. He’s also planning a trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji with his winnings.
