LAS VEGAS — Jack Hughes is keen for a family reunion.

Speaking to a small group of reporters at the NHL/NHLPA player media tour, the New Jersey Devils centre was asked about wanting to play with older brother Quinn — a star defenceman with the Vancouver Canucks — at some point.

“This is the headline question,” Jack smiled when asked about one day suiting up alongside Quinn. “Honestly, I’m not afraid to say it. Ya, I would love for Quinn to … eventually, I’d love to play with him. And whether that’s in New Jersey or at what time that takes, at some point, I want to play with Quinn.

“That’s the question going around. They talk all day about it up in Vancouver, you know? But ya, I’d love to play with Quinn at some point.”

Jack Hughes, 24, is signed with the Devils through 2029-30. The youngest Hughes brother, 22-year-old defenceman Luke, is a restricted free agent with New Jersey.

Canucks president Jim Rutherford said in April it would be easier to re-sign Quinn Hughes, whose contract expires at the end of the 2026-27 season with unrestricted free agency looming, if Vancouver “brought his brothers here.”

Jack Hughes had a career-high 43 goals and 99 points in 2022-23. Quinn Hughes, who turns 26 next month, won last season’s Norris Trophy with a career-high 92 points.

The Canucks will be eligible to re-up their captain to a contract extension July 1, 2026.
