Pridham scores late, Ottawa Rapid edge Calgary Wild 2-1

CALGARY — An injury-time goal from Delaney Pridham lifted the Ottawa Rapid to a 2-1 victory over the struggling Calgary Wild in Northern Super League play on Wednesday.

Pridham, the league’s leading scorer, tapped in a shot from inside the six-yard box in the third minute of extra time to seal the victory.

The Wild took an early lead when a shot went off the shin of a Rapid defender in front of the Ottawa goal in the 15th minute.

The Rapid replied in the 42nd when Julia Benati scored off a free kick just above the penalty area.

Ottawa controlled 55 per cent possession across the game and held a 6-2 edge in on-target shots.

The Rapid (9-6-6) moved up to second place in the league standings with the win, while the Wild (6-13-2) saw their losing skid stretch to five games.
