Vernon RCMP issue warning after rash of thefts from vehicles

VERNON – A rash of thefts from vehicles has police asking the public to take precautions.

In the last week alone, there were over 20 thefts from vehicles, RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says.

“The Vernon North Okanagan Detachment would like to remind people not to leave items in plain view in your vehicles,” Molendyk says.

The thefts are not concentrated in any particular area, but are city-wide.

“We caught one individual but it hasn’t stopped so there’s obviously several people out there doing it,” Molendyk says.

If you see anything suspicious or know who is responsible for any of these thefts, police ask you to call the detachment at 250-545-7171 or remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
