NSL-leading AFC Toronto plays to 1-1 draw against Halifax Tides FC

TORONTO — Esther Okoronkwo scored the tying goal in the 38th minute as AFC Toronto played to a 1-1 draw against Halifax Tides FC on Sunday in Northern Super League.

The draw extended league-leading Toronto’s (13-6-3) unbeaten run to four games, with three consecutive wins leading up to Sunday.

Okoronkwo put a low shot into the left corner of the net past Tides goalkeeper Anika Toth on a penalty kick.

Tiffany Cameron got Halifax (3-13-5) on the board in the 27th minute.

Kiley Norkus sent a lead cross into the box where Cameron was able to box out her defender and slip a low shot off the post and in past Toronto goalkeeper Sierra Cota-Yarde.

Toronto next visits Ottawa on Friday, while Halifax welcomes Vancouver on Saturday.
