Missing Vancouver Island couple, dog found alive after spending night in truck

NANAIMO, B.C. – Police say a Vancouver Island couple that went missing earlier this week has been found alive.

Mounties say Cody Martin and Tamara Sandulak, along with their black lab-cross dog Rex, were found near Moriarty Lake, 50 kilometres west of Nanaimo, B.C. on Saturday.

Police say all three were cold and hungry but in otherwise good health.

Martin and Sandulak told police their truck had broken down at the lake, and they had decided to stay in the vehicle for warmth.

The pair say they decided to look for help Saturday morning, finding cell reception and calling a family member.

Const. Gary O'Brien says this is the outcome everyone was hoping for.
